Candy Mountain Maple Farm is nestled high in the Adirondack Mountains in Thurman, New York. Our natural and great-tasting pure Maple Syrup is New York State Grown & Certified and USDA Organic. It is sustainably farmed in a diverse forest ecosystem using modern and environmentally friendly sap collection techniques. This will ensure the health of our forest "sugarbush" for many years to come.

Our proprietors, Mike and Ingrid Richter, bring over 80 years of professional environmental experience to Candy Mountain to ensure we produce a healthy, responsibly farmed product. Candy Mountain is also STEM student friendly! We invite you and your family to visit with us to learn "hands-on" how maple syrup is made from our trees to your table!

We look forward to meeting you during our open house at Thurman Fall Farm Tour October 12, 2024 and Thurman Maple Days in March 2025.

Newton is a red-spotted newt, a resident of Candy Mountain and of lakes, ponds, streams and wet-forests of the Adirondacks. His scientific name is Notophthalmus viridescens. The red spotted newt produces tetrodotoxin, a potent poison, which makes the species unpalatable to predatory fish and crayfish. Newton is pictured in his natural habitat, on the Candy Mountain forest floor, in a stream gulley atop an OAK Leaf and Lichen.
